Soy isoflavones are compounds found in soybean and soybean products. They have been reported to possess numerous physiological properties, such as antitumor, anti-menopausal (female) osteoporosis and anti-aging.
They have also been reported to improve learning and memory skills in menopausal women and aid in the prevention and treatment of heart disease, diabetes and Kawasaki disease (KD). In this review, the effects of soy isoflavones on various diseases were analyzed. Based on the analysis, it was hypothesized that the function of soybean isoflavones in the prevention and treatment of various diseases results from their phytoestrogen and antioxidant properties.
Soy isoflavones are polyphenols found in soy products and other plants. They preferentially interact with a type of estrogen receptor involved in cognitive functions. Because they interact with estrogen receptors, soy isoflavones have also been studied for preventing menopausal symptoms and premenstrual syndrome. Some clinical studies have suggested that soy isoflavone treatments may improve a few cognitive functions, though the benefits appear to depend on age, gender, and ethnicity. Soy isoflavone intake via diet or supplementation is generally regarded as safe.
Isoflavones, which are found in soy, are plant estrogens. High levels of estrogen have been linked to an increased risk of breast cancer. However, food sources of soy don't contain high enough levels of isoflavones to increase the risk of breast cancer.
1. Supplement estrogen, menstrual volume is small, endocrine is not regulated, delay female aging
When the level of estrogen in the human body decreases, soy isoflavones will occupy the estrogen receptor, play the role of weak estrogen, and show the effect of increasing estrogen levels;
2. Prevent and improve menopausal symptoms
During female menopause, due to the decline of female ovarian function, the level of estrogen secretion decreases, causing a series of changes in the body and recuperation, such as hot flashes, sweating, irritability, insomnia, memory loss, joint pain, etc. Without timely treatment, it will cause long-term effects and damage to the body, as well as family and friends. Soy isoflavones can effectively improve ovarian function, increase estrogen levels, prevent and improve menopausal symptoms, without side effects.
3. Lower cholesterol and reduce the incidence of cardiovascular disease in women
Soy isoflavones increase the activity of very low-density lipoprotein receptors, prevent excessive oxidation of very low-density lipoprotein receptors, inhibit the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells, and resist thrombosis. It reduces the activity of platelets and makes them on the blood vessel wall. Reduction of deposition and accumulation of atherosclerosis prevents the occurrence of atherosclerosis and reduces the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases in women
4. Improve osteoporosis
Menopausal and postmenopausal women are more prone to osteoporosis, the main factor is endocrine imbalance, especially the decline in estrogen levels. Ovarian function declines after menopause, and the level of estrogen in the body decreases, which firstly causes the production and activity of vitamin D to decrease, thereby interfering with calcium absorption in the intestine. Secondly, the bone loses the protective effect of estrogen, the sensitivity to parathyroid hormone is enhanced, and bone resorption increases.
5. Postpartum recovery:
In order to accommodate the fetus, the uterus will become warm, soft and full of blood under the action of estrogen, forming a large hollow fleshy ball. After childbirth, the uterus suddenly becomes an empty room. It is not so easy to restore to the original state. It requires careful maintenance by the mother. Appropriate estrogen supplementation is very helpful for the recovery of the uterus and ovaries.
Soy-derived ingredients are increasingly found in skin care products, usually as genistein, a soy isoflavone. There are good reasons why some moisturizers and night creams include soy isoflavones: they brighten the skin, decrease redness, boost collagen production and improve skin tone.
If you’re interested in exploring soy's potential health benefits, consider adding some of these foods to your diet:
edamame
soy flour
miso soup
tempeh
tofu
soy milk
soy yogurt
You can also take soy isoflavones in supplement form. The North American Menopause Society recommends starting at a dose of 50 milligrams a day. You may need to increase the dose to have benefit. Keep in mind that it could be several weeks to months before you start to notice any change in your menopause symptoms.
Soy germ isoflavone exerted favorable effects on vasomotor symptoms and lipid profile, showing itself to be an interesting alternative therapy for the postmenopausal women with contraindication for conventional HRT.
The soy isoflavones block the estrogen receptors in your brain and fool your body into thinking its natural estrogen levels are low. In response, your body starts a cascade of events to boost estrogen production. (As part of this process, a group of eggs matures so that one will be ready for release during ovulation.)
