What is Chaga Mushroom Extract?
Chaga mushroom extract was born under the bark of silver birch, eucalyptus, and alder, or under the bark of standing trees or the dryness of trees after felling. It is mainly in the regions of Russia, Finland, Poland, Hokkaido, Heilongjiang and Jilin of China.
The chemical constituents of Inonotus obliquus include polysaccharide, birch algae, betulin, a variety of triterpenoids, tausel, a variety of lanosterol triterpenoids, folic acid derivatives, aromatic Vanillic acid, syringic acid and gamma hydroxybenzoic acid, it has also been reported that tannin compounds, steroids, alkaloids, melanin, low molecular polyphenols and lignin compounds have been isolated.
Chaga mushroom extract is a mushroom associated with the birch tree which flourishes in the heart of the coldest and most hostile regions of the planet. It’s found mainly in the vast wildernesses of Siberia, home to fast-flowing, icy rivers. In this hugely inhospitable environment, the chaga mushroom is revered by the Nenet, Evenk and Mansi. For thousands of years, these Siberian nomadic peoples have had to rely on hunting (wild reindeer, red deer, ptarmigan …), fishing (salmonids, monkfish and grayling) and gathering, both for nourishment and for developing natural and powerful Shamanic remedies.
Chaga mushroom extract was, for a long time, one of their best-kept secrets: they used it to make an invigorating tea to help them ward off fatigue, cold, hunger and any illness or injury that might befall them in these harsh, unforgiving conditions. It was only from the 1980s onwards that this knowledge reached a wider audience as European settlers became more interested in indigenous lands than in their own pharmacopoeia and folklore…

Chaga Mushroom Extract Benefits:
Cancer Prevention and Fighting
Several studies have found that substances present in chaga mushroom extract may effectively prevent cancer and slow tumor growth. One study showed that a hot water extract of chaga mushroom inhibited the growth and promoted the death of colon cancer cells. Another study suggests that chaga mushrooms may be beneficial in the development of anticancer drugs. Although these studies show promising results, further human research is needed to determine the effectiveness of using chaga to fight or prevent cancer.
Immune System Function
Beta-D-glucans found in chaga mushroom extract help balance your immune system. This means that they can stimulate your immune system when you need a boost and downregulate it when it is overactive.
Reduction of Inflammation
Cytokines in your body, such as tumor necrosis factor alpha, are responsible for inflammation. Betulinic acid, inotodial, and ergosterol peroxide are compounds in chaga that help reduce inflammation by inhibiting the production of cytokines.
The outer portion of the chaga mushroom extract (sclerotium) contains high amounts of polyphenols, which act as antioxidants. They protect against free radicals that may lead to liver and other organ damage. This is encouraging, but more study is needed to confirm chaga mushrooms’ effectiveness in liver protection.
Chaga mushroom extract may help prevent stomach ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori. Substances found in chaga may prevent H. pylori bacteria from growing by interfering with bacterial cell communication.
Polysaccharides present in chaga mushrooms have been found to reduce low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or “bad” cholesterol in animal testing, but it’s too soon to know whether that’s true in people.
Lower Blood Pressure
Researchers found that inflammation caused by oxidative stress may contribute to high blood pressure. Chaga mushroom extract's antioxidant properties may help combat oxidation and lower blood pressure.
Lower Blood Sugar
In addition to regulating the immune system, the types of beta-D-glucans found in chaga have also been shown to help lower blood sugar levels. More research is needed to confirm how effective this may be in the treatment of conditions like diabetes.
Chaga Mushroom Extract Application:
1) It has been used to remedy in the treatment of stomach-intestinal tract diseases and as a palliative remedy for tumours of different location.
2) It is used to cure skin diseases, especially in the case when they are combined with inflammatory diseases of the stomach-intestinal tract, liver and biliary colic.
3) It improves health, preserves youth and increases longevity and boosts “Chi” or life energy.
